How does Belt detect movement?

Belt uses your iPhone's built-in accelerometer and gyroscope — the same sensors used by Apple Fitness. It detects motion signatures unique to specific movements (reps, strikes, steps, etc.) and classifies them by type, intensity, and direction. No external hardware required beyond your iPhone and an optional Apple Watch.

Where on my body can I wear Belt?

Anywhere that creates meaningful movement. Common placements:

  • Hip / waistband — best for whole-body movement detection and hand-side classification in combat sports
  • Wrist (Apple Watch) — precise for punch detection and arm-based exercises
  • Chest / torso — good for upper-body exercises and breath-based activities
  • Ankle / leg — kicks, squats, leg-dominant movements
  • On equipment — mount on a bag, bar, or machine for impact/vibration tracking

Belt detects your placement and adjusts its motion model automatically. You can also manually set placement mode in the session settings.

My rep count seems off — what can I do?

  • Make sure your phone is secured tightly — a loose clip or pocket causes false readings.
  • Adjust sensitivity in Profile → Training Settings. Lower it if you're getting extras, raise it if reps are being missed.
  • For bag mode, ensure the phone is firmly mounted to the bag surface.
  • Certain movements with very small amplitude (slow yoga, static holds) may not trigger detection — Belt works best with dynamic, repeating movements.

What activities does Belt support?

Belt is movement-agnostic — if your body moves, Belt can track it. It works out of the box for boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, MMA, weightlifting, calisthenics, running, cycling, yoga, dance, basketball, tennis, golf, climbing, and more. You can define custom activities and what Belt should count within them.

How do I set a goal for my session?

Before starting a session, open the session config sheet and set your targets: rep count, duration, power threshold, or rest periods. Belt will track your progress live and notify you when you hit your goal. Tap Train → Plan to configure a custom session.

How do I cancel my subscription?

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name → Subscriptions
  3. Find Belt and tap Cancel Subscription

Your access continues until the end of the billing period. For refunds, contact Apple Support directly.

How do I restore a previous purchase?

Open Belt → Profile → tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Can I use Belt with Apple Watch?

Yes. Install the Belt Watch app from the Watch app on your iPhone. Once paired, Apple Watch acts as a wrist sensor — sending movement data to your iPhone in real time. For the best coverage, use both simultaneously: Watch on wrist + iPhone on hip.

Where is my data? Can I export it?

All your data is stored locally on your device — no cloud, no servers. You can share individual session summaries via the Share button inside any session. A full data export (CSV/JSON) is planned for a future update.

How do I delete my data?

  • Single session: Swipe left on the session in the Progress tab → Delete.
  • All data: Profile → Settings → Delete All Data.
  • Everything: Delete the Belt app from your iPhone. All local data is permanently removed.

Belt is crashing or not launching

  • Force-quit the app (swipe up from App Switcher) and reopen it.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Update to the latest version of Belt and iOS.
  • If it persists, email khemchay@gmail.com with your device model, iOS version, and what you were doing when it crashed.
