Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 3, 2026  ·  Last updated: July 3, 2026

The short version: Belt does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. All movement data, session history, and personal preferences stay on your device. No account required. No tracking. Ever.

1. Who We Are

Belt is an iOS application developed and operated independently. For any privacy questions, reach us at khemchay@gmail.com.

2. Data We Collect

Belt is built on a principle of local-first privacy. Here is a precise breakdown of what is processed:

Data processed only on your device (never transmitted):

  • Motion sensor data — accelerometer and gyroscope readings captured during active sessions to detect movement, count reps, measure intensity, and classify motion patterns. Raw sensor data is processed in memory and never persisted to disk.
  • Session records — date, duration, activity type, rep counts, intensity bands, speed, power, balance metrics, and any goals you set. Stored locally in the app's database on your device.
  • App preferences — your chosen activities, sensitivity settings, placement mode, goals, and display preferences. Stored locally using iOS system storage.

Data we do not collect:

  • Your name, email, or any identifying information
  • GPS or location data
  • Camera or microphone access
  • Health or HealthKit records
  • Contacts, photos, or any files outside the app
  • Advertising identifiers or device fingerprints
  • Usage analytics or crash reporting (beyond Apple's standard system logs)

3. How We Use Your Data

The data Belt processes serves one purpose: making the app work for you. Specifically:

  • Detecting and counting your movement events (reps, strikes, steps, etc.) in real time
  • Displaying live metrics during a session
  • Generating post-session summaries and analytics
  • Tracking goal progress and historical trends
  • Personalizing detection sensitivity to your body and placement style

We do not use your data for advertising, model training, benchmarking, or any purpose other than operating the app on your device.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your data to any third party under any circumstances.

The only way your data leaves your device is if you choose to share a session summary yourself using Belt's Share Sheet feature — which is always manual and user-initiated. Belt never sends data automatically.

5. iCloud (Optional, Future Feature)

A future version of Belt may offer optional iCloud backup for your session history, synced only across your own Apple devices via your personal iCloud account. This will be opt-in, clearly labeled, and governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy. It is not active in the current release.

6. Subscriptions and Purchases

If Belt offers premium features through Apple In-App Purchases, all payment processing is handled solely by Apple through the App Store. Belt never receives, stores, or processes payment information of any kind. Billing questions should be directed to Apple Support.

7. Children

Belt is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly process data from anyone under 13. If you believe your child is using Belt, please contact us and we will help ensure data is handled appropriately.

8. Data Deletion

You own your data and can delete it at any time:

  • Individual sessions: Swipe left on any session in the Progress tab and tap Delete.
  • All data: Go to Profile → Settings → Delete All Data, or delete the Belt app from your device entirely. Deleting the app permanently removes all stored data.

9. Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in sandboxing, file system encryption (when your device is locked), and Secure Enclave protections on supported hardware. Since data never leaves your device, there is no server-side attack surface. We recommend keeping your iPhone updated to the latest iOS version.

10. Apple Watch

When Belt is used with Apple Watch, motion data is processed on-device on both the Watch and iPhone. Session data is synced between them via WatchConnectivity over your local device network. No data passes through external servers during this process.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in Belt's App Store release notes. Continued use of Belt after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
